From December to May,  migratory period
for humpback whales

From December to May, humpback whales come to the warm waters of the Caribbean to mate. If you're diving at this time, you may be lucky enough to observe them or enjoy their song. The mating display is very demonstrative: males jump, stand vertically or strike the surface of the water with their flippers.

La Réserve Cousteau

The Parc National de Guadeloupe is a protected marine area located mainly in the commune of Bouillante and partly in that of Pointe-Noire, on the leeward coast of the island of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. Covering some 400 hectares around the îlets Pigeon, opposite Malendure beach, the zone protects the seabed and limits fishing.

We visit once or several times a week during the high season.

Turtle safaris resume on Tuesdays during the high season. Departure from Deshaies for an afternoon snorkeling on the coral reefs of the ilets Pigeon.

          On reservation.

crèmes solaires minérales des Laboratoires de Biarritz

Experiments carried out in various seas around the world have shown that certain UV (ultraviolet) filtering components contained in many sun creams can stimulate the development of infections that destroy the famous zooxantella, a microalgae that lives in symbiosis with coral and is necessary for its development. As a result, the coral whitens and dies.

Fortunately, there are sunscreens with zinc or titanium mineral filters that are safe: the minerals do not penetrate the skin and do not cause allergies. They are designed to limit the impact on marine ecosystems.
